24th of July Staycation

Living in Utah has it's perks and one of them is that we get to celebrate 2 holidays in July--Independence Day and Pioneer Day. We celebrated Pioneer Day by going to our local zoo--The Hogle Zoo. It was really hot but fun. And since it was a holiday we got the bonus feature of having Gavin come with us too.

I think everyone has a picture of themselves with this lion drinking fountain

This is as good as it gets for a group photo shot

Hadley and Griffin enjoy a cool treat

Morgan tries to give Griffin a hug on one of our breaks

And after the carousel ride we finished the zoo trip with a train ride.

We celebrated in the evening with a backyard campout at Trevor and Annie's. The idea was much better than the actual event. Gavin got the tent all set up and we had dinner, games, hottubbing, and fireworks. And then it was time to sleep in the tent. Mia slept in the house in a playpen and that left 7 of us in the tent. Griffin and Hadley were out instantly. It started storming and was raining really hard and the wind was blowing our tent around. Morgan did not like all the noise, rain and wind or the new surroundings and did not sleep at all the entire night. We were exhausted the next day. Hopefully our next backyard adventure will go a little better with her.

We have that same yellow tent!! :) Geoff always grumbles a little when it's time to set it up, however.

The yellow tent is Jeff and Rae's and it did take him awhile to figure out how to set it up. But it is great once it is up!
