I don't have any idea what we are celebrating on Labor Day. I probably should google it before admitting to that. I'll feel really bad if it is honor of our veterans or something. When I hear the word 'Labor' I think of immense pain, sweat, nausea, shaking and then tears, joy and happiness when I see my new little baby's face. I have spent about 60 hours in labor so I think it's nice that they have given us a holiday to celebrate it! We didn't go anywhere exciting for the holiday weekend. Just stayed around the house working on different projects. We did enjoy a yummy Labor Day breakfast and a little football action at my mom's church.
Update: Thanks google!!
The first Monday in September of each year has been observed as Labor Day for more than 100 years. It is a day dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers: an annual tribute paid to all workers for their contributions in making the country a better place in which to live and work. I like my explanation better!

I guess we could add to your research, that on this particular Labor Day, we celebrated Jamie's 30th birthday as well!
