Another reason I love Thanksgiving...

I get to see good friends when they come to town to see their family

I went over to Tisha's mom's house today to see her before she flew back to Arizona. It had been over five years since we last saw each other and a lot has changed. Tisha unexpectedly lost her husband 2 years ago, moved from California to Arizona, and is now raising her three children as a single mom and doing a great job! We have been friends for around 30 years. We grew up in the same circle. And even though she was a few years ahead of me in school we became great friends. I felt like I was part of their family . . . eating graham crackers with milk in their kitchen on a daily basis, going boating to Lake Powell and Willard Bay with her family, sleepovers, swinging on her swing set for hours in her backyard, believing that she and my sister were professional swingers (a different type of swinger than this generation is familiar with) for some made up guy, and the list goes on and on. Tisha moved away 20 years ago and we have seen each other only a handful of times but I think a sign of true friendship is when you can see each other again and feel like no time has passed and begin right where you left off. And that was exactly how it was today!

I am so glad that you were able to see Tisha. She looks great! I know what you mean about not seeing someone for years and then when you do, you just pick up from where you left off. I still get together about two times a year with my 'girl' friends from high school. Keeping friendships alive is so important.

His name was Mr. Greenburg and he wasn't made-up! We were seriously training for the circus and just because you were jealous doesn't mean you can continue these cruel rumors 30 years later!

I first wrote 'Mr. Greenburg' but then thought I was forgetting his name and thinking of grandma's neighbor. Anyway...I'm sorry neither of you ever accomplished your dreams of being in the circus. It's kinda like my failed attempt at making the Guinness World Records book for sitting on a boogie board in the pool for the longest time. But seriously I still laugh about the swing-training and how left out I felt. Kennedy is so you!!

I can't believe you remembered his name. How long ago that was. As well as how that memory is so clear! There are so many stories and memories: playing kick the can and hide and seek. Another comes to mind when we went to Ubba Lake - heather and chad got hypothermia, your dad almost took the door off the big red and white van, and the scone shop!!

Oh wow...there's someone I haven't seen forever! Just recently got connected again through Facebook; but, I had no idea she's had to go through that...sad, breaks my heart! You're such a sweetheart Heather...it obviously shows in your blog, which I love to read (never mind I'm just catching up now :})
